Job Description: Tech Lead - PACS SYSTEMS
Job Summary: The PACS Administrator acts as a liaison between the Imaging Department and Information Services Department, and provides day to day direction and support
of PACS equipment image workflow analysis, archiving, auto routing, and prefetching and other related PACS activities. Works closely with unit operations managers to
ensure timely and complete capture of digital image data into the PACS system, as well as, network transmission, RIS validation, and exception handling. Takes an
active role in acquisition and implementation of new Imaging systems. Maintains a positive vendor relationship. The PACS System Administrator is responsible for
assigned to work with Director of Imaging, Physicians, and IS personnel. Areas of responsibility include the PACS system and other Radiology solutions. The PACS
System Administrator provides leadership and mentors other team members on PACS. The possible candidate will need to work in NIGHT SHIFT to support US team.
Education/Training: High School / GED or equivalent; Associate degree or equivalent work experience required. Bachelors Degree Computer Technology or Allied Health
Preferred.
Experience: Minimum 1 year working in a Imaging department. Minimum 4 years' experience required in clinical and/or financial healthcare information services.
Minimum 4 years EMR build experience. Minimum 2 years' experience in project management.
Skills & Abilities: Ability to prioritize and carry out multiple responsibilities simultaneously; detail-oriented and extremely well organized; excellent listening
skills; comfortable speaking with both internal and external customers; excellent customer service skills. Must be able to work independently or in a group as
necessary. Requires organizational skills, effective time-management, and detail oriented with an aptitude for problem solving; effective public relations and
interpersonal communications. Aptitude for understanding computer software and hardware. Ability to self- instruct and teach others.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plans, leads and coordinates the design, build, installation, upgrade, updates end user training of new and established Information Systems to maintain appropriate levels of technology and functionality as determined by company and/or vendors. Primary contact for PACS, works with IS team members, vendors and customers to
coordinate project plans including timetables, testing, training and implementation dates. Keeps involved personnel informed of changes via email updates, meetings, etc. Works with vendors to solve software/hardware issues. Drives PACS initiatives
Prioritizes, investigates and troubleshoots problems and questions pertaining to system applications, interfaces and data processing as appropriate. Solves the
problem and/or helps determine correct measures to be taken toward the solution. Documents status of issues on a timely basis. Able to provide low level software PACS support and problem resolution without calling third party vendor Remote Operations Center (ROC) each time.
Trains all new hires (Clinical Radiology, Staff MRI Tech, Rad Tech, etc…) and provides proactive training documentation for all new releases of PACS software
Provides customer support by communicating with customers in a prompt, courteous professional manner; Evaluating problems in a timely manner and collecting all information required to solve the problem; monitors system performance. Communicating appropriately to local and/or remote support staff and working together with
these entities to develop a solution to the problem; Taking call as scheduled to meet around-the-clock needs of system users. Documents site-specific failure recovery and work around processes.
Maintains and develops system security policies and procedures, documents system history. Performs archive maintenance, patient list clean up, image quality and
calibration. Monitors and maintains error logs, base folder access/creation, ensures system reliability. Ensures that all department, hospital, and company guidelines are met for operation.
Develop and lead PACS task force for Company: Networks with local PACS administrators from area hospitals in an effort to expand PACS knowledge and bring best
practices to company.
Performs other job related duties as assigned by Assistant Director of IS.
